Kim Ly's journey began when she migrated from Vietnam to the United States in 1979. Her passion for the beauty industry led her to pursue higher education, earning her bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. in skin care, nail care, and hair care from Michael University in Nassau, Bahamas. In addition, Kim holds esthetician and cosmetology licenses, as well as esthetician and cosmetology teaching licenses, in the state of Illinois.

Kim Ly's impressive career spans over 25 years in the beauty industry, during which she has bought, managed, and sold nine full-service salons across Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, named ‘Image Beauty Bar.’ At one point owning six simultaneously. She excelled at transforming each salon into a profitable business, later selling them at higher values to new owners.

Her success has earned her features in numerous news articles and websites, including a notable piece in CRAIN'S Chicago Business. 

Today, Kim Ly has transitioned from owning physical salons to becoming a respected Ph.D. professor at Michael University, where she teaches online courses in cosmetology and beauty. She also imparts her knowledge on starting and running a successful business at the same university.
